Set Up Shop On Facebook & Instagram
Many small businesses have had to temporarily close their physical doors due to stay-at-home orders nationwide. However, during this time we have also seen record e-commerce sales!
On Tuesday, May 19th Facebook announced the launch of Shops, to help bring even more business online in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic. Shops will be a way for businesses to set up free online storefronts on both Facebook and Instagram via a shopping tab, shoppable live streams, and more.
More and more small businesses are using social media to connect & sell to customers. Social selling will continue to be a trend we see in the months to come, as customers may not feel completely comfortable shopping in stores just yet.
In a live stream, Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg said expanded e-commerce would be important to begin rebuilding the economy while the pandemic continues. “If you can’t physically open your store or restaurant, you can still take orders online and ship them to people,” he said. “We’re seeing a lot of small businesses that never had online businesses get online for the first time.”
Shops is a free tool to use and will begin rolling out on Facebook immediately. We can expect to see Shops live on Instagram later this summer.
